Debussy's work, originally for the piano was composed between 1888 and 1891. The suite is one of the first impressionist pieces of music following the French artistic movement with artists such as Monet.
The work is an impressive masterwork for quartet making the most of the resonances of four guitars to achieve the waterlike piano arpeggios.
